Here’s a lineup of some of the most unforgettable and sometimes aggravating younger siblings from cinema classics. Count yourself lucky these aren’t your kin.

The Goonies’ Mikey (Sean Astin)
Younger than his brother Brand (Josh Brolin), Mikey is an endearing asthma-stricken, dorky kid who’s known for his memorable pep talks. In the Goonies universe, the innocence of children can trump crooks and realtors, and Mikey is at the helm of these adventures. From restraining Brand with workout equipment, embarrassing him with a pink bicycle, to guiding him into a treacherous cave, Mikey constantly pushes the boundaries. And to add insult to injury, he plants a kiss on Brand’s girlfriend before Brand has a chance.

Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Despite being the younger one, Ferris often outsmarts everyone, from family to school staff. His antics range from skipping school, nabbing reservations at upscale diners, to spontaneously singing in a parade. Miraculously, he faces no repercussions, even after damaging a prized Ferrari. With his fearless demeanor and hilarious run-ins with clueless Principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), Ferris is the embodiment of teen spirit. However, who wouldn’t be a tad envious if they had him as a younger sibling, much like his sister Jeannie?

Sara (Maia Brewton) from Adventures in Babysitting
Unlike her peers, Sara isn’t into Barbie dolls but idolizes Thor, even dressing as him. Her courageous nature is evident when she, guided by her babysitter (Elisabeth Shue), gets entangled with car thieves and gangsters. Her charming innocence convinces her a mechanic (Vincent D’Onofrio) is Thor, but maybe her elder brother Brad should’ve made her understand reality. Her daredevil move to escape car thieves by scaling a building almost had a tragic end.

The Lost Boys’ Sam (Corey Haim)
Sam, the younger brother to Michael (Jason Patric), reacts to Michael’s semi-vampire state with pure little brother flair: sheer annoyance. His reactions range from warning Michael about mom’s potential wrath to comically interrupting Michael’s profound moments. His odd ’80s fashion choices certainly don’t add any gravitas to his character. Maybe it’s the overwhelming presence of mullets causing Sam’s brain fizzle.

Phoebe (Ashley Bank) from The Monster Squad
Despite her tender age, Phoebe is a force to reckon with when it comes to monsters. Younger to the Monster Squad’s leader Sean (Andre Gower), she befriends Frankenstein and persuades Sean’s hesitant pals to welcome the monster. Her boldness peaks when she sends Dracula and other monsters to Limbo, using a German chant that supposedly works only when uttered by a virgin. And she nails it, even if she was possibly missing a tooth or two.
